CONCEPT

This shoe is designed for users who cycle in their daily basis. Being able to walk with comfort while still being to cycle efficiently. Squeeze and pull activates the 3 parts of the outsole to join - making it rigid enough to do cycling. For walking it’s even easier, by just squeezing the lock the string will release the tension seperating the 3 pieces, being more flexible.

TRIHEX

TRIHEX IS DESIGNED FOR BIKERS TO BE ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE OUTSOLE FROM RIGID TO FLEXIBLE WHEN NEEDED. LIFT THE STRIP UP TO LOCK THE RIGID SOLE, PULL THE TRIGGER AGAIN TO RELEASE THE TENSION RESULTING IN FLEXIBILITY

DETAIL :

PLAY THE VIDEO TO SEE HOW THE EFFECT OF OUTSOLE PERFORMS WHEN TURNED TO FLEXIBLE MODE HAVING THE ELASTICITY ACTIVATED. THIS FINAL PROTOTYPE VISUALLY LOOKS CLOSE TO MY DESIGN AND ALSO IS WORKABLE.

TESTING PROCESS / RESULT

The process of testing I have tried several prototypes up to 7 different patterns. The result is the very first prototype gives the best result of flexibility, because the rubber already have certain friction when given a joinery design it collides and may be unsafe for users to use. The prototype number 2 is a clear error of the problem.

The commentators really helped me understand what footwear is about and the important points of relation between the user interaction and design. It was really make me want to go on with this project further in the future. Thanks o Mr. Henry, Mr.Matthew , Adidas, and Nike.
